The journal follows the COPE Core Practices.
Case reports concern identifiable individuals. Written informed consent for publication must be obtained from the patient, or from a parent or legal guardian where the patient is a minor or lacks capacity. Authors must confirm consent was obtained; the journal may request a copy. Removing a name is not sufficient anonymisation if the case remains identifiable from images or circumstances.
Authorship requires substantial contribution to the work, involvement in drafting or revising it, approval of the final version, and accountability for it. Anyone who does not meet all four should be acknowledged instead. Changes to the author list after submission require written agreement from every author.
All financial and non-financial interests that could be seen to influence the work must be declared. Editors and reviewers recuse themselves where they have a competing interest.
Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Text is screened for similarity. Reusing your own previously published text without attribution is not acceptable.
Errors are corrected openly. See Corrections & Retractions. Published articles are never silently altered or removed.
