The journal is open access: there is no subscription and no charge to read. Publication is funded by an article processing charge, payable only after a manuscript has been accepted.

What is and is not charged

• Nothing is charged to submit.
• Nothing is charged if a manuscript is rejected.
• The charge applies only on acceptance and covers peer-review administration, copy-editing, typesetting, identifier registration and permanent hosting.

The current charge for your manuscript type is confirmed with the acceptance letter, and in advance on request - contact the editorial office before submitting if the amount affects your decision.

Waivers

The journal operates a waiver policy. Authors without access to research funding, and authors based in low-income and lower-middle-income economies, may request a full or partial waiver at submission. Waiver requests are handled separately from peer review and have no bearing on the editorial decision.

Refunds

Where a charge has been paid in error, or an article is withdrawn before publication at the journal's request, the charge is refunded in full.
